The Seva Vanitha Unit of the Civil Security Department conducted a series of meaningful activities to coincide with the International Women’s Day under the leadership of Mrs. Lakshmi Pallegama, President of the CSD Seva Vanitha Unit. Mr. Chandrarathne Pallegama, Director General along with Mrs. Pallegama invited Mrs. Chathurika Sirisena to be the Chief Guest of the events conducted for the patients of the Cancer Hospital in Maharagama which included lunch for all inmates.
The Welfare Division of the Civil Security Department donated a consignment of essential drugs whilst the popular Calypso Band of the Civil Security Department performed in the wards of the hospital during the time frame allocated by the Director and staff of the hospital. These activities were coordinated by the Director Welfare, Media, Music & Cultural, Major Vajira Kumarathunga.
Besides, the numerous activities conducted at the Cancer Hospital, the Seva Vanitha Unit conducted a formal ceremony at CSD Headquarters with the participation of a cross section of women from all 28 battalions in the country under the guidance of the Director General. All participants were gifted with mementoes whilst those who have served longest stints at CSD were presented with gifts.

Major Vajira Kumarathunga and Staff Officer SVU, Major Mangala Mendis took part in these activities.
